Class Descriptions

Vinyasa (All Levels)
A moving, flowing, physical practice incorporating strength, flexibility and balance. Strong emphasis placed on breath work, mindful movement and anatomical alignment. Playful sequencing carries you from the foundational postures to more challenging poses, always with modifications and alternatives.
Warm Room ~75-80 F

Power Flow (All-Levels/Intermediate)
A vigorous, athletic version of Vinyasa, expect more emphasis to be placed on heat building in the body, moving briskly through the foundational postures into invigorating and dynamic sequencing. We will work with focusing attention on mindfully exerting effort in the body while keeping the breath steady, nourishing the relationship between body and mind.
Warmer Room ~80-85 F

Gentle/Restorative
A slower form of yoga with little to no attention paid to heat building, instead focusing on softening and opening the body and making space for recovery and healing. Gentle classes will work with postures for multiple breaths, while Restorative classes will work with postures for multiple minutes. Many props will be used to support the body, giving you the space to relax and renew.
Comfortable Room ~75 F

Bio

Andrew began his yoga practice in 2007 while at Tufts University in Boston. He has an athletic, compassionate style that is built on his study of Astanga Yoga and various forms of Vinyasa Yoga. His first guru was Elliott McEldowney of O2 Yoga who taught him the importance of effort, intention, and dedication in your yoga practice.  Andrew earned his 200 RYT in San Francisco at The Mindful Body (Class of 2013), under the guidance of Maile Sivert and Caroline Kelley. After teaching for two years in San Francisco (at The Mindful BodyBernal Yoga, Maiden Lane Studios and Just Breathe Yoga SF) and for one year in San Diego (at Yoga One and  Grotto Climbing and Yoga), he is now back in the Boston area and teaching on the north shore.

Andrew found yoga through a love of personal fitness, anatomy, and nutrition. After studying physical theater and dance, he spent two years in New York City as an actor and movement director. He uses his substantial knowledge of anatomy and body mechanics to guide his students through asana and to give clear and supportive physical adjustments. Andrew strives to create a meditative environment that allows his students to delve deep within themselves.
